Round 7, the final round of Formula D for this season was held at the Toyota Speedway in Irwindale, Ca. After an entire day of tiring practices and nerve-wracking qualifying rounds, the real competition started. With the sun down and the lights on, Tanner Foust fought for a consecutive victory, Vaughn Gittin Jr. for his first victory, and Justin Pawlak for his invitation to Red Bull Drifting World Championships.
The action really started when Tanner Foust and Justin Pawlak's first battle ended in a draw. Their runs were repeated until one of the two could achieve a two point lead from the judges. Each time the big TV flashed "One More Time" the crowd got more for their money. The most decisive run started with Justin Pawlak in the lead and with all the white smoke behind him Tanner Foust had no choice but to follow his lines. When the blue Mazda RX7 scraped off it's rear bumper on the wall the black and yellow Nissan 350z followed suit. The victory went to Tanner Foust giving him 95 points for the event, leaving Justin Pawlak with 84 points.
Next, Vaughn Gittin Jr. battled Foust for first. After the smoke cleared from the first run it was clear that Vaughn Gittin Jr.'s Falken Ford Mustang also scraped his rear bumper off making Pawlak quite the trend setter. Leading the pack with 103 points for the event, Vaughn Gittin Jr. took home his first victory at Round 7, but with the points Tanner Foust accumulated from the six previous rounds he remained the overall champion resulting in a first ever seasonal consecutive victory.
