We've been hearing about this monster Subaru for few months now from our friends over at Tomei USA. Originally built to be "just" a regular time attack Subaru that would showcase Tomei engine parts, Cusco suspension parts, and Voltex aerodynamic parts, this WRX STI has morphed into one of the craziest time attack Subies around.

From the outside you can see the custom bodywork done by Voltex, with flared fenders, deep side skirts, and a custom front wind splitter. The front openings and ducting are also larger. What you can't see is the flat underbody and the time that this car spent in a wind tunnel.

Super GT Cusco engineers also applied their knowledge to this car, creating a custom roll cage and revising all the suspension parts. The car has been dropped to a very low ride height and numerous alterations were made to relocate the front/rear roll centers and bumpsteer curves.

Tomei also put significant work into the engine, as can be seen by the engine dyno shots. A larger turbo is used on the built engine, although Tomei's own incredible individual throttle body intake manifold is not present. Interesting.

And now we hear that the car has arrived. As in, it's off the boat, out of the container and ready to hit the track in the US. Eiji "Tarzan" Yamada will be driving the best in our own Super Lap Battle time attack finals event. It happens mid-November in just a few weeks at Buttonwillow Raceway. HKS' Evo is the car to beat, and this STI is shaping up to be the fastest competitor this year. Will they beat HKS? Who knows, but it should be interesting to watch.
