As the most in-depth and longest running test in the history of Sport Compact Car, the Ultimate Street Car Challenge has grown leaps and bounds in terms of notoriety and popularity. Bursting beyond the boundaries of these pages alone, the USCC has spread like wildfire thanks to the Internet and a whole lot of word of mouth. Numerous contests and races have even sprouted across the globe wearing the "Ultimate Street Car Challenge" name and the formula has been adopted by even more. But it's the original that still stands strong at the top of the hill.
The competition is closely followed in multiple countries worldwide, while videos of the challenge are viewed on-screen by thousands of hungry enthusiasts from as far away as Australia and Japan. Seen here is a reprint of our 2006 Ultimate Street Car Challenge, appearing in our Chinese overseas licensee, Autosports. Yes, the fast growing Chinese auto market does care about how the Hasport supercharged K24-powered CRX did against upgraded GT-Rs, STIs, and NSXs. This begs the question-how long until we reach a worldwide Ultimate Street Car Challenge, and what should we call it? The International USCC? The USCC World Championship? Or maybe the Global USCC Cup? We're not quite there yet, but one can dream. When it comes to the USCC, it truly is a small world after all.
